1. Will I get accepted if I have a bad credit history?
Yes, we would never discriminate because you have a bad credit history. We will not perform any credit checks on you. The only criteria are that you must be over 18 years old, have a UK home address and proof of ID.
2. Will I get accepted if I am self employed?
Yes, your employment status will not affect your application. We will not perform credit checks, so you can even get accepted if you have CCJs, defaults or have been made bankrupt.
3. Can I apply online?
Unfortunately you are not able to apply online at the moment. But please contact our Harrington Brooks advisors who will be able to take you through the application process.
4. Can I access my account online?
Yes, you will be able to access your online account management centre 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
5. Where can I use my card?
You can use your card in shops, online or over the phone, basically anywhere where MasterCard is accepted. You can also withdraw money via an ATM.
6. How Can I load Funds onto my Account?
There are a number of ways that you can load funds onto your account:
- Your wages can be paid directly into your account. You need to sign the pre printed wages mandate which comes with your welcome pack, and hand it to your payroll department.
- At Natwest, other banks may apply a small charge.
- Standing Order or Internet banking from other account.
- By phone with a credit or debit card.
7. How much will my Extra Direct bank account cost?
There will be a set up fee of £30 for a single account and £35 for a joint account. This deal has been designed for people who apply through Harrington Brooks, applying for an Extra Direct bank account anywhere else may cost you more!
There is a monthly fee of £12.50 which allows you full online access to your bank account, support with the account management team and the Prepaid MasterCard. You must remember that although you will be paying a monthly fee, you will not incur any charges or overdraft fees.

8. Do you pay interest?
No interest will be paid on funds held in either your Billing Account or Prepaid Card account.
9. Will my money be safe?
Yes, the money which is held in your Billing Account is held securely with the NatWest bank and funds on your prepaid card are held with the Newcastle Building Society. Extra Direct aligns to the Banking Code and is committed to providing the utmost in security and customer service.
